    Staff welcome back picture
Welcome back to in-person learning!!! We are SO excited to have you back on campus!

Here are some important reminders for your big return:

    1. Please bring your device (and charger), Benchmark workbook, Go Math workbook, a refillable water bottle if you’d like (we have new hydration stations), and of course, your mask!

    2. We will do temperature screenings at the gates upon arrival. Parents, please do not drive away until your child has been cleared.

    3. School starts at 8:55. When the bell rings, everyone goes to class. (There will be lots of staff members to help you find your classroom). The first few days teachers will be out on the blacktop to meet you. If you come early, the gates will be open at 8:30 and you can do running/walking club. This year, we have 2 running club routes: K-1-2 on the lower blacktop by the handball walls and 3-4-5 on the upper basketball courts.

    4. Class is from 8:55-1:10 (grades 1-5) and 8:55-12:10 (kindergarten)

    5. Breakfast as a class will happen first thing in the morning, and lunches will be grab-’n-go at dismissal.

    6. We have recess rotations designed so you will be able to play with your cohort.

    7. At dismissal time, cohorts have designated areas to wait out front (or at the back gate). Families, since we are not mixing cohorts, you may need to make more than one stop along the sidewalk in order to get your children. We want to make sure everyone remains spaced out and only with their cohorts.

    8. If you’re learning from home that day, your teacher will see you on Zoom from 1:55-2:55, but you will have plenty of assignments to do during your independent learning time the whole rest of the day.

    9. If you are sick, remember to stay home- you can join your teacher’s Zoom instruction in the afternoon instead. We want you to be safe and healthy!

    10. Rooms are sanitized each day. We think you’ll be impressed with all the safety protocols we have in place to make Del Rio a healthy, safe, fun, engaging learning environment!

Please take a minute to acknowledge our District's Face Mask Policy here

Normally Wednesdays will have the whole class back together on  Zoom for virtual learning, but this Wednesday is Veterans’ Day, so there will be no school.

If the 2-day schedule presents a hardship for your family, you can apply for the 5-day Expanded Enrichment Program here on campus with ASAP from 7:30-3:00 each day. Please email Alma Roman, or call her at 760-916-5226. We are opening more spots!

    About Us

Del Rio Elementary School is part of the Oceanside Unified School District, a K-12 district located in north San Diego county.  As one of twenty-three schools in the district, we offer a full academic program to approximately 430 students.

Our district’s vision is that all students will graduate college and career ready, prepared to be responsible global citizens and ambitious future leaders.  Students are challenged and rewarded every day in this rich learning environment.

In addition to the core subject areas of reading, writing, math, science, and social studies, students at Del Rio Elementary School have the opportunity to participate in music, PE, Art and MathLand (a conceptual, interactive math time).  Students have access to Chromebooks and iPads to support individualized learning through a wealth of digital curriculum.  Every day students are engaged in highly rigorous learning through technology, collaboration, inquiry, and project-based learning.
