Opportunities Offered

In May of 2024, the Board of Education designated Del Rio as a magnet school, and was renamed Del Rio Stem Academy!  Our Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) magnet school will ignite students’ passion for science, technology, engineering, and math. Our specialized programs foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills, preparing students for future success. This program offers the advantage of a cutting-edge education that opens doors to endless opportunities.

As we begin our journey this year, students will continue to visit the STEM lab weekly, to explore the Engineering Design process, and work collaboratively with their classmates to solve problems.  In addition, we will begin working with the Project Lead the Way curriculum in all classrooms.  Teachers will work with their classes to dive into interesting, hands-on lessons that will encourage critical thinking and creativity!  

In addition, we will be partnering with the Fleet Science Center to coordinate special assemblies and Family Nights to continue the exciting, hands-on experiences for our Vikings!
